NAWABSHAH: (04th April 2020) Hashoo Foundation in collaboration of National Disability & Development Forum (NDF) distributed emergency food packages among 100 persons with disabilities in Nawabshah. The representative of Hashoo Foundation told in press statement that Lockdown in the Pakistan badly hit daily living due to Coronavirus epidemic. All walks of life disturbed but the vulnerable community especially persons with disabilities are the most miserable in current difficult scenario. He told that Hashoo Foundation believes “No one left behind” in current diificult time, people with disabilities are also under priority during Emergency Response on COVID-19. The foundation has launched drive of emergency food package distribution for persons with disabilities in local Disabled people Organization National Disability & development Forum (NDF) collaboration in Nawabshah. During first phase 100 families were provide ration bags, soon next will be started in Nawabshah & other parts of Sindh. Mr. Abid Lashari CEO NDF told that People with disabilities are suffered lot during current scenario. The Government should introduce Disability Inclusive emergency response of persons with disabilities. As we are aware that people with disabilities, including people with Down syndrome, are at higher risk of being impacted by this situation and less likely to be included in response plans. It is important that commitments to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are upheld at this time to ensure that the COVID-19 response is disability inclusive. Sindh Government should consult Disabled People Organization should be consulted to prepare inclusive plan to beat the Coronavirus, he added.
